She had just lost $1,500 to an online scam - a fraudulent email claiming to be from "GeekSquad," demanding payment for virus removal and "unlimited protection." As someone in the tech industry, I was heartbroken. If only I had been there to warn her about the scam.
That moment sparked an idea: what if I could create a digital safeguard to protect my grandma and others from online fraud?
Developing a Digital Guardian
Driven by this mission, I developed the first version of CareSquad AI specifically for my grandmother. But I soon discovered it could help others- even I, with my background in technology, found myself using it to verify suspicious emails. CareSquad AI became a valuable second opinion for my own online interactions.
Recognizing its potential to help others, I decided to make CareSquad AI available to the public. The scale of the problem is staggering - online scams cost Americans an estimated $10 billion annually. That's an alarming number of individuals and families falling victim to digital fraud.
